Four Members attended for an enjoyable afternoon.

Vegetation to the sides of entrance steps to site has been been trimmed back.

Side door has had majority of trim fixed.

Dome box ring has had additional replacement panels trimmed and fitted.

Quite a bit of trimming done.

Saturday 15th June:

3 members continued dome Box Ring repairs and Basement preparation.

3 toads in basement were observed. If a toad can survive all perils of its environment they can live to be 40 year old apparently. So please be care full in basement.

Some folk don't consider toads to be that pretty but I expect the feeling is mutual.

Saturday June 22nd.

1pm to 4pm

4 Members today and useful work done.

Path cleared of overhanging plant growth down to site, The long days certainly make the hedge grow. The path needs regular trimming otherwise it will soon become blocked.

Dome Box ring repairs progressing well, next week may see part of the external skin permanently reattached.

Also continuation of basement preparation. Evicted 2 fat toads, they will probably get back in.

There were some astronomical discussions with coffee and biscuits.

Saturday 13th July

Boultham Park Summer Fair:

TAWPIA relocated for the day to take part in the event we have participated in since it's inception in the early 1990's.

This year we took society 10'' Dobsonian and our Treasurer kindly brought his 2 solar telescopes. The weather was fine and as usual with solar telescopes no one went away disappointed with views and explanations of what was seen combined with mandatory safety cautions. We had a good plot with enough space for caravan, awning and gazebo.

Easy walking distance to Burger van, Donut van and Mr Whippy so went home fatter and needing to brush teeth.

Eight members took part in this event from 9am to 4.30pm

Consideration was given to improvements that could me made next year to perhaps using a camera and monitors to show sun in more detail.

Saturday 27th July:

The Chair arrive an hour or so after work had started today on some important Dome Skin seam renovation by the Treasurer and his capable assistant.

Renovations in basement have now started and initial work indicates the plan will work. The weather was warm and humid so it was like a very rudimentary sauna in basement, or perhaps the Chairman is not very fit and should have taken his coat off.

As usual the it was an enjoyable, constructive and good humored afternoon.

Saturday 3rd August 2013:

There were 5 TAWPIA participants this week and progress was made.

The steps were cleared of vegetation to aid access for the main meeting next week. An important job and one that visitors appreciate when visiting.

Dome skin joints were the focus of observatory repairs this week again. Unfortunately some seams are worse than thought but fortunately repairable we think.

Work progressed in the basement too.

If you are reading this then come along to to TAWPIA and see what goes on.....it's fun.

Saturday 10th August:

Work progressed steadily this Saturday as only two members attended, The Treasurer and The Chair.

Did not have volunteer to make a nice cup of tea.

Tea makers are especially welcome by TAWPIA.

More work planned next Saturday... Same Time ... Same Place.

Saturday 17th August:

Weather not ideal for dome skin and seal renovation today.

Treasurer demonstrated stepper motors on Lecture Hall table that will be used to turn observatory mount into a GOTO.

Work continues in Basement. A SDS drill was employed to assist. The Special Direct System (SDS) was invented in 1975 by Bosch. The model used today was a Clarke version.

Four members attended TAWPIA this week. The Deputy Treasurer kindly brought a small box of broken biscuits that contained custard creams and other popular varieties. They did not last long with a cup of coffee.
